It’s a Wonderful Life!
It’s a Wonderful Life is a 1946 American Christmas family fantasy drama film produced and directed by Frank Capra, based on the short story and booklet The Greatest Gift, which Philip Van Doren Stern self-published in 1943 and is in turn loosely based on the Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol. The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up his personal dreams, in order to help others in his community, and whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers). Clarence shows George how he, George, has touched the lives of others and how different life would be for his wife Mary and his community of Bedford Falls if he had not been born.
- What do I think about the main message of the film? In this picture I see theme of love for people, kindness and generosity. The film shows us American life in recent century. There is a lot of hidden discussions about the value of money.
2. this film I didn’t like much because there was a lot of men. Creators overdone with men. It is film shows “what” women deal is. The role of woman characters is underestimated unfortunately. The romantic love is exaggerated.
3. What moments / episodes were surprising to me? to tell the truth, I wasn’t really surprised. In the same time, I didn’t know that bank that helpes to live in your own house really exist.
4. “We’re doing something important; We’re satisfying a fundamental urge. It’s deep in the race for a man to want his own roof and walls and fireplace.”
Peter Bailey says about the value of full and pure life with adventures and travelling. I don’t think it is really true because people are different and have different situations.
5. “I suppose I would have been better off if I had never been born.” — I had said something like this. Usually I say that the wonder of life is deserving and fighting for happiness.
