I would like to tell about a traditional (typical) Russian house to a foreigner. First of all, housing in Russia can be divided into two parts: urban houses and country houses.

Secondly, Russians typically live in the cities, of course.

Thirdly, we don’t count bedrooms, we count rooms. we can have one, two or three room apartments. In the rare case — 4 room apartments, especially, in expensive homes. We can have studios like a one huge room with kitchen and it is like one room in a 1-room apartment.

In apartment we usually have one living/dining room, and one or two rooms will be cozy bedrooms. Coziness is important and special for us, to tell the truth. Most Russian standard apartments will have one bathroom, having a master bathroom and a guest bathroom is considered to be chic. Apartments lack dedicated storage spaces, so the balcony usually serves as a storage for everything — from winter tires to skis, strollers and other items. Many Russian interiors are not complicated if we talk about new apartment that were built in 2000’s or in 2010’s, for example, it will style “euro”. Style of Apartment that was built in 20th century might look like grandma’s style as it called in work of real estate agent.

It is important to say, that we need to our houses to spent less many for heating.
